Congressional PORTS Caucus Co-Chairs Weigh in with EPA
Reps. Robert Garcia (D-CA-42) and Randy Weber (R-TX-14), Co-Chairs of the Congressional PORTS Caucus, submitted a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), seeking adjustments to the Clean Ports Program. The Clean Ports Program is a $3 billion program made available by the Inflation Reduction Act to invest in climate studies and zero-emission equipment at ports.
The letter specifically asked EPA to: prioritize grants for seaports over inland dry ports, allow at least 50% of grants to fund charging infrastructure, allow ports to scale their grants in conjunction with other sources of funding, and provide flexibility on the liquidation deadlines for grants.
The letter is available here.
